Intending to help its students and their parents cope with the challenges during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, GGH School came up with yet another thoughtful initiative of organising a series of talk show titled ‘Straight from Heart.’ The idea that lies behind this is that the parents and students would be able to express their thoughts on various matters of concern freely so that we all can have meaningful and insightful conversation on significant matters.
On 29th August, Gurugram Global Heights School has successfully conducted second session of season 1 “Straight from Heart”, a special talk series with its students and discussed about “The impact of Covid 19 on the students’ life.” The session was quite intriguing and insightful.
The show was hosted by Ms. Shikha Bansal – the English faculty, under the guidance of our revered Vice Principal ma’am, Dr. Bhavna Chibber, who was the observer of the session. She provided great support to all the students on behalf of the school and encouraged them to speak their thoughts out loud.
Our students willingly joined us & expressed their opinions based on the impact the pandemic has had on their lives to the core, wherein they put forth their inner feelings ‘straight from heart’.
They shared insights into how one can keep calm in such difficult times and talked about various ways that they adopted to let the positivity flowing. The drastic transformation in the lifestyle brought about by this pandemic and the psychological effects of lockdown on young children were discussed extensively. The session also focussed on managing stress and emphasized on the importance of having heart to heart conversations with the little ones.
Students came up with some real-life issues that this pandemic enforced on them and what strategies they adopted and habits they inculcated to balance their mental, physical and moral health. We were amazed to see that our young generation can be so concerned towards the importance of mental health. Watching the students talking in the following video you can easily analyze the level of thoughts that our children carry these days.

GGHS believes in nurturing the minds of young students. Speaking skills are defined as the skills which allow us to communicate effectively. They give us the ability to convey information verbally and in a way that the listener can understand. So, it’s
important to develop both speaking and listening skills to communicate effectively.
Students of Grade-1 have made a poster related to “Public Speaker. It will help them to understand that a public speaker who exudes confidence is viewed as being more confident, accurate, knowledgeable, intelligent, and likable than a speaker who is less confident of what they are saying. It’s natural to be nervous but to excel in public speaking, you have to overcome your nervous jitters.

Paper bag day is celebrated on 12 July annually to make people aware of the pollution caused due to plastic and the serious threat that it poses to the natural environment. Plastic waste takes thousands of years to decompose. Therefore, it is important to understand the ill effects of single-use plastic bags.
Paper bags are made from renewable raw materials, are recyclable and biodegradable. No doubt they are strong and are used on almost all occasions. Several people are using bags every day made up of paper that help in curbing environmental pollution. Due to globalization, climate change, and scarcity of raw materials people are adopting sustainable lifestyle choices, and paper bag is one of them. It reduces the use of plastic bag which causes pollution and are non-biodegradable.
To emphasize on the significance of paper bags, the students of class V virtually hosted a special assembly attended by all the students, parents, teachers, and our honorable Vice chairperson ma’am and Vice Principal ma’am.
A beautiful and informative role play was presented by Bhushan and Aanya of class V spreading awareness about the need for the usage of paper bag. Also, Roli gave a small presentation to help his schoolmates know the procedure and way of creating a paper bag at home. This helped create awareness among students regarding the necessity of being friends with the environment.
With the above belief, GGHS took the initiative to inculcate the habit of using Immunity Boosters in its students and elevated its importance further by conducting a House Activity in the form of Competition.
Under the benign presence of Respected Vice-Chairperson, Mrs Yojna Raghav and Respected Vice Principal Ma’am, Mrs Bhavna Chibber, the event was a great success. All children of classes VI to IX got benefitted from it.
Participants presented their views on Immunity Boosters and various methods to prepare them with homemade products. The students also integrated the concept with History and Statistics which was appreciated.
Here are some glimpses of the event:
Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme!
At GGHS, it is our primary aim to engage students in numerous interactive learning techniques that enhance their skills and keeps them constructively occupied.
With this view, Rhyme Time was organized for KG students where they made a Bear from a Paper Plate and Recited the Rhyme – ‘The Bear Went Over the Mountain.’
The objective was to develop their language, creative thinking and social skills. In addition, physical response to rhyme reinforces learning about rhyme by including more of the total body in the learning experience. All these objectives were achieved successfully when the students recited the poem using the paper plate bear made by them.
” Every good conversation starts with a good listener “.
GGHS believes in nurturing the minds of young students. Listening skills lead to lasting advantages in a student’s academic career and beyond, including Greater ability to communicate.
Students of grade-1 have made a poster on ” Be a good listener”. It was a relaxing and grappling camp. It allowed children to learn new skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
If you are not willing to learn, No one can help you. If you are determined to learn, No one can stop you.
Creative writing is one of the most powerful ways to express feelings, thoughts and ideas. Writing, like all other forms of arts is meant to effect and influence the minds and emotions of others. To enhance the creativity and knowledge of teachers about the use of language, an online session on Zoom was conducted. It was steered by our Vice Principal Ma’am, Dr. Bhavna Chibber, and conducted by Ms. Shikha Bansal (the English Faculty) on 31st May 2021. The workshop emphasized on the importance of observing one’s surroundings closely and relating it with things that are known to one. Once the ideas have formed, it is important to indulge in free writing and record all thoughts without inhibition. It is only when all the thoughts have been put down on paper that one should move towards cohering the piece of writing by editing, altering, correcting the writing, and taking feedback on it. The session was interactive and included activities where teachers willingly participated with enthusiasm. After attending this workshop, the teachers came out better fortified with lots of material to restructure their creative writing skills.

But…
To react in a controlled manner and handling the circumstances with a positive attitude is Anger Management.”
Here is one more commitment of GGHS that was appreciated by the audience was “Workshop on Anger Management “.
Under the benign presence of our Vice-Principal Ma’am, Dr. Bhavna Chibber the event was a great success.

We believe that this kind of session will help us to overcome this time of desperation and help our mind to function with peace and happiness.
Let’s have a glimpse of the event

GGHS aims at giving students a platform and opportunities to enhance their confidence and give them the ability to showcase their talent. Among many such activities performed on regular basis, one was given to students where they spoke about their inspiration. Students came up with names of different personalities who inspire them to achieve their goals in life. Someone wanted to become a genius like Albert Einstein, someone wanted to be a young musical sensation like Justin Bieber, some found inspiration in the IPS officer Kiran Bedi, someone wanted to be a soccer player like Cristiano Ronaldo, to some, their teachers were inspiration whereas to some their family and the values they inculcate were their inspiration. Students were found expressing themselves in the free environment provided to them which added to the intensification of their communication skills, collaborative and cooperative learning skills.
GGHS always takes its students one step ahead in this new world of technologies. For enhancing their curiosity, at the pre-primary wing, we introduced a science experiment of static charge, wherein the students executed experiments on their own and learned about the static charge which occurs while rubbing two bodies/objects together.
