The Homework Policy at Gurugram Global Heights School, Dwarka Expressway is designed to support meaningful, age-appropriate learning beyond the classroom. Rooted in the principles of NEP 2020, the policy emphasizes conceptual understanding, creativity, and independent thinking while promoting student well-being. It outlines structured guidelines for the Foundational, Middle, and Senior stages to ensure a balanced academic experience. This policy also encourages active parental involvement and reinforces the role of homework as a formative tool in lifelong learning.

  1. Foundational Stage (Pre-Nursery to Grade II)
  • Homework HoursNo formal homework
    • At the Foundational Stage, parents are encouraged to reinforce concepts with their children at home through fun and engaging activities; simple tasks aligned with classroom learning may be shared as homework to strengthen understanding in a playful and stress-free manner. 
  1. Middle Stage (Grade III to VIII)
  • Homework Hours:
    • Grades III–V: Up to 2 hours per week
    • Grades VI–VIII: Up to 1 hour per day
  • Types of Homework:
    • Practice Tasks: Reinforce concepts learned in class. 
    • Extension Tasks: Apply learning to real-world situations (e.g., experiments, projects).
    • Creative Tasks: Promote innovation, problem-solving, and exploration.
  • Guidelines:
    • Tasks will be differentiated to meet diverse learning needs.
    • No rote-based assignments; focus on critical thinking and concept clarity.
    • Students may receive choice-based tasks to develop ownership of learning.

Note- Students might receive extra work from the school to bridge the learning gaps observed by the teachers with the consent of parents.

  1. Senior Stage (Grade IX to XII)
  • Homework Hours:
    • Grades IX–XII: Up to 2 hours per day
  • Objectives:
    • Deepen understanding of subjects through self-directed learning.
    • Preparation Homework may be given to build prior knowledge for upcoming lessons.
    • Encourage independent research, writing, and reflective practice.
  • Guidelines:
    • Assignments will include practice, research-based, and creative elements.
    • Encourage time management, study planning, and self-evaluation.
    • Projects and readings are integrated with board exam preparedness.
