Writing is one of the most important methods of communication & it is a critical tool for education. As parents, we strive to provide a holistic & balanced upbringing for our children. However, in addition to creating a supportive environment at home & school, we require to encourage children’s imaginations and creativity as well. Encouraging children to write creatively is the most suitable way to accomplish this.

In addition to being an invaluable life skill, creative writing will help your child to communicate his or her thoughts, both at school & later in a variety of professional settings. It is also one of the basic quests to help your child be more self-aware.

There are multiple ways to help improve the child’s creative writing skills & nurture them as ace communicators. Writing skills can be comprehensive & used for additional styles such as creative writing, business writing, formulating internal communication in schools, public & private organisations and other avenues.

Some types of writing skills we can teach our children are mentioned below:

Creative Writing 

This is the best form of writing to get children started to fire their imagination, spark interest and develop a story. Children can begin with short sentences & slowly expand to paragraphs and stories depending upon their improvement and comfort level. 

Narrative Writing

A good story with characters, plot, drama and climax sprinkled with tons of imagination can do wonders, for the youngsters. It also teaches them to structured thinking, reasoning, and understanding of situations via stories and opens doors to building life skills & human emotions like empathy and more.

Persuasive Writing

A cohesive summary based on reasoning & logic is usually the key to adequate persuasive writing. It’s a form of opinion that works via this style. It banks on emotion, reasoning, analysis, crucial thinking depending on the plot, a balanced outlook & a conclusion.

Formal writing

Typically, formal writing pursues a set of rules & a format within which a writing piece can be framed. Examples include letter writing, school brochure, newsletter formulation & business communication for older children.
